JAMB CAPS Is Down: What It Means for Your Admission

Update, 29 September 2026: CAPS is back

JAMB says CAPS was restored on 27 September 2026, and we confirmed on 29 September that it is working. We have written a new post on what to do now. The rest of this page is kept as we wrote it on 26 September.

JAMB’s Central Admissions Processing System, CAPS, has been unavailable since 24 September 2026. JAMB says it is a hosting problem, and it has not said when CAPS will be back.

What JAMB has said

On Thursday, 24 September 2026, JAMB announced on its official X account, @jamb_hq, that CAPS is temporarily unavailable because of technical challenges with its hosting arrangements. The statement was issued by Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Acting Director, Public Affairs and Protocols.

JAMB said it is working with the hosting organisation to restore CAPS, and that it will review what happened once CAPS is restored. It gave no restoration date and did not name the hosting organisation. That is everything JAMB has said, and we are not going to add a date it has not given.

What it means for you: our reading, not JAMB’s

Not being able to open CAPS does not mean your admission status has changed. The system is unavailable, and that says nothing about what is recorded on it.

While CAPS is down, nobody can check, accept or change a CAPS status, including us. Anyone asking for your JAMB login or a payment to do CAPS work right now is not telling the truth.

What we have paused

We have paused CAPS Status Check and Admission Acceptance Assistance, because they depend on CAPS and cannot be done while it is down. The prices have not changed.
