JAMB CAPS Is Back: What to Do Now

JAMB says its Central Admissions Processing System, CAPS, was restored on Sunday, 27 September 2026, after about 96 hours of disruption. It announced this in its weekly bulletin and on its official X account on 28 September. We checked CAPS ourselves on 29 September and it was working.

What JAMB has said

JAMB has told institutions to speed up admissions to recover the lost time. The deadlines set for this cycle still stand: public universities must finish by 31 October 2026, and private universities by 30 November 2026.

JAMB has also advised candidates to accept admission offers promptly, and has said it will promptly consider admission recommendations that institutions submit through CAPS.

If you were waiting for NECO results

NECO released the 2026 SSCE results on 24 September 2026. JAMB advises candidates who were awaiting results to upload or verify them promptly, so their results are available when institutions consider them.

What it means for you: our reading, not JAMB’s

CAPS being back does not mean you have been admitted. An offer only counts once JAMB approves the institution’s recommendation, and “Admission in Progress” means that has not happened yet. Institutions have deadlines to meet, so we expect a busy few weeks and some delay before your status changes. JAMB has not said how long that will take.

Nobody can guarantee an admission or speed up an approval. Anyone who asks for your JAMB login, or for a payment to “push” your admission, is not telling the truth.
